More Than Just Tutoring

For me, successful tutoring isn't simply about completing more worksheets or practising questions.

Before meaningful learning can happen, a child needs to feel comfortable with the person teaching them.

That's why I take time to get to know each child as an individual — their strengths, the things they find difficult, what motivates them and how they learn best.
 

From there, I create personalised 1:1 sessions designed to strengthen their understanding while building the confidence and independence they need to succeed.
 

My aim is for children to leave a session not only knowing more, but also beginning to think: “I can do this.”
 

Specialist Year 6 Support

Year 6 can be an exciting year, but for some children it can also bring increased academic pressure, uncertainty and anxiety.
 

Having spent many years teaching Year 6, I understand both the academic expectations children face and the emotional challenges that can come with preparing to move to secondary school.

I provide personalised support in Maths and English, helping children identify gaps in their understanding, strengthen key skills and approach their learning with greater confidence.
 

But preparation for secondary school is about more than academic knowledge.

I also aim to help children develop the confidence, resilience and independence they will need as they take that next important step.
 

Supporting SEMH and Neurodivergent Learners

Every child learns differently.

I have extensive experience working with children with SEMH and neurodivergent needs, and I understand that a traditional, one-size-fits-all approach to tutoring isn't right for every learner.

Some children may need additional time.
 

Some may need information presented differently.

Some may struggle with confidence, anxiety, concentration or becoming overwhelmed.

My approach is calm, patient, positive and adaptable. I work to understand what helps each individual child engage successfully with learning and tailor sessions around those needs.
 

The goal is to create an environment where your child feels safe to ask questions, make mistakes and experience success.

Carver Education is a personal tutoring service.
 

I don't match your child with another tutor or use a standard programme.
 

I work directly with your child, getting to know them and adapting their learning as our sessions progress.
