Hello, my name is Ruth Carver.
I have been a primary school teacher for 18 years and for the last 9 years I have worked in Year 6 in a challenging yet rewarding environment. I am passionate about all areas of learning but have a particular interest in English of which I have been the lead for 7 years. My approach is rooted in the belief that academic success is only possible when a child's emotional foundation is secure. I have led Year 6 cohorts to 78% expected standard, not just through dedicated teaching of the curriculum, but by building deep, personal connections that foster a love for learning.
I offer more than tutoring; I offer a commitment to the holistic development of every child.
I have dedicated my career to developing confidence and nurturing self-belief in children through carefully planned activities and tasks. My aim is to develop a love of learning using a child led approach to build engagement and enthusiasm. I believe in real time feedback to minimise lost learning time and maximise opportunities for growth and understanding. My fair, consistent and positive approach allows for trust as well as being empathetic to different learning styles and needs.
I believe that every child deserves a smooth and successful transition into secondary education. My approach focuses on building a genuine rapport and understanding the unique needs of ALL learners including those with neurodivergence. By prioritising empathy and personalised academic strategies, I will ensure that your child feels supported, confident, and equipped to thrive in their learning.
